Dr. Dinsmore is a board member of the Traditional Practice Association of the South Bay and is on the Medical Executive Committee at the Surgicenter of South Bay. He has served as board member of the Doheny-USC Professional Association since 1994. He has been Chairman of the Ophthalmology Committee at Torrance Memorial Medical Center from 1989-1991 and from 1993 through the present. He has been a pioneer and strong proponent for the use of topical anesthesia in micro-incision cataract and implant surgery since it was first used in 1993. Dr. Dinsmore was not only the first ophthalmologist to use topical anesthesia in the South Bay, he continues to be the only one who incorporates it in close to 100% of his cases. This "no needle, no stitch and no patch" technique can be the safest approach to cataract surgery and allows for extremely rapid visual rehabilitation. He has written many often quoted papers on this subject and delivered numerous talks nationally at the annual meetings of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery as well as locally at the prestigious Doheny Eye Institute. Articles are available upon request. Recently, Dr. Dinsmore was selected as one of five surgeons by Pharmacia & Upjohn to be included in the Video Textbook of Viscosurgery-1997, allowing him to share his work on video with cataract surgeons worldwide.
